Covalent and ionic bonds?

Covalent bonds share electrons and is involved with a metal bonding to a metal, while ionic bonds give or recieve electrons and is involved with a metal bonding to a nonmetal. The formation of water is a polar covalent bond and there are 8 electrons (1 from each hydrogen and 6 from the oxygen) involved in this bond.
