My carpet is really dirty really dirty Can someone help?

you see I moved in last year and the carpet was in really bad condiction and i have two kids and it's getting worse.so I thought that I should buy a carpet cleaner i went to walmart and i found a hoover for $120 and i want to know should i buy it will it clean my carpet?
